HORSE

It took me a while to write about Horse. Too personal. Too dear to my heart. Too well known, although Horse still holds much wisdom for me to uncover.

How to write a story for everyone about my personal animal Totem? Do I start with my deep personal connection, and what Horse has meant to me? That is for later.

First, let’s look at the actual animal. That often tells us so much about what they can teach us. As within, so without.

Four strong legs. Firmly on the ground. Horse is about grounding. About being on ‘all fours’. Four elements. Four energies that make up for all of life.

Horses also are the most sensitive and aware animals close to man. Their huge bellies make them feel everything and react instantly. They are the perfect mirrors of energy and show us exactly where we lack grounding, stability, and clarity.

Horses are my most precious teachers of all animals. Because they know.

When Horse shows up, know it is time to deeply feel. Into your body. Feeling is where the knowing happens. At least 80% of the information inside our body (hormones, chemicals, senses, etc) goes from body to mind. And only up to 20% the other way around.
So ground. Feel. Use your body to tell you what to do, where you may pay attention.

Also, trust your gut, Your instincts. Most peopel know what to do, they just dont do it.
This is about doing what you know.

And then move. Step by Step.
Not alone. But in a tribe. In a herd where everyone has their own unique role.
And where the leader of that herd, is the mare. The matriarch. The wisest female that just by her presence commands respect and leadership. She hold space for all to be safe.

Horse also has a shadow. They serve. They carry. They flee.
They run. If you unpack Horse, like with every animal guide, also unpack their Shadow.
Where are you fleeing, and scared?
Where are you running with the herd and blindly following, instead of deeply feeling what your own unique route is?
How much collaboration is there, and how much adaptation? And when do you need what?

Then Horse is asking me to bring in the mythical.
Unicorns. Pegasus. Centaurs.

As if their natural power isn’t enough, Horses were given extra powers on top of all their majesty.
Magical. Mystical.

They are also the only animals known to actually full serve man and carry us loyally.
To fight wars with us and cross continents. To carry our sick and wounded. To plough our lands.

Without our domestication of horses, we wouldn’t be here.

And that, is a lesson in itself.
