ROBIN

“When is an animal just an animal and when is it a special message, an animal guide?” I get that question a lot, from people who start opening up to the magic and signs in daily life. Who have heard my stories about animal wisdom and how they guide and support us. And yes, sometimes I have to check myself if I don’t over-interpret an ‘ordinary’ crow or cat just wandering around. Sometimes a cat is just a cat.

My answer is usually this: when the timing, the place, or the behaviour is odd, or you keep seeing the animal or references to it multiple times (3 or more) in a row, then you might want to start paying attention.

So, although a Robin is not a very strange and unique sight in winter, I have seen so many Robins in strange places and conversations and dreams that I started to notice.

  • First the Robins in my garden (there are always robins, but also blackbirds, pigeons, and other birds), but this week, mostly Robins.

  • Then I received a postcard with a Robin from my best friend.

  • Then, last night I dreamed about someone named Robin, who I was holding closely, and then my best friend (the one who sent me the Robin card, just now told me about a book “The Great Robin”.

  • And then, the person named Robin I dreamed of asked me when we could meet. Ok, then I am paying attention!

The way I go about explaining and interpreting an animal’s messages is to look at the elements they represent, and also learning about the animal itself. Watching it, sensing their energy, what they look like , and what they do. Intuitively I often know, but I also alway like to look up their meaning in one of my books or card decks (usually the one I have lying around is the one I need), or I google it a bit to see if there are additional messages that stick. Robin teaches : It's time to let go of anything in your life that's outdated and stagnant and plant the seeds for the new by setting your goals.”

“Hmm,” I thought, “that is indeed about the one thing I havent’ yet done for next year… reflection check, gratitude check, new journal and calendar check, but nope, didn’t do the goal setting yet!”

As a bird, Robins represents element Air. Element Air stands for new ideas, plans, visions. Red Robin also bears the color of element Earth. So Robin reminds us to ground our goals, and plans. Really bringing it here, on earth. Making it real.

Robin represents new beginnings, Leaving the old and preparing for springtime. New life. New Creations. Renewals. Robins are associated with new births, new projects, fresh starts. Robins are about perseverance, action, and manifestation.

Robin opens doors, and brings the power to make happen. But not in a heavy and big way. Robin is also cheerful, doing their chores and work with song. They are uptime, content,

So, if a lot of Robins cross your path, ground your new ideas and make them practical. Then, just start with turning them into action one step at a time, Enjoying the process, having fun, and liking the activity. Robin tells us that just keep moving and smiling while doing that is perfectly enough to make change happen.

From Robin we learn about taking up our (new) work with happiness and joy, and through that, experiencing more beauty, warmth and vitality.

What a great teacher, this time of year!
